I have BF2 and my parents are getting me the special forces expansion for Christmas. My question is, do I need upgrade points to get SF weapons? I thought I did, but one of my friends(who also doesn't have the game yet) told me that they were just given automatically based on what upgrades you already have.

yeah, basically log in and play a round of Special Forces on a ranked server. then next time you log into your account you should get at least an upgrade or two.

It depends on what rank you are at. You usually get one SF unlock for each rank you have in vanilla BF2. I went into SF as a SSgt, and got 3 immediate unlocks.

Now instead of getting one unlock per rank you get 2 (one for BF2 and one for SF). If you already were a 1st Sgt or Sgt. Maj. then your unlocks are retroactively applied so they should be immediately available upon earning some points.

Ok, so at my rank(sgt), I'll get 3 more unlocks that can be used for any weapon. Like can I use one of these for the M95 sniper even though thats not an SF weapon?
