something wierd is going on with my BF2. It was working fine with my x800xl, than I installed a 6800 nu and it refuses to load. Will not run no matter waht, just shows the the first screen, flashes black and goes back to desktop. Thinking this is wierd, I re-install my x800 and everythiing works fine. Now I've also managed to get my hands on a 6800GT and the same BF2 problem happens. I've used drivercleaner between each install and have have tried 3 different driver revisions. Any idea why my battelfield is hating nvidia cards?

hmmm, didn't do anything still immediatly crashing to desktop. I'll try a re-install see if that does anything.

Are you sure you don't have anything forcing a refresh rate? I use reforce and had to disable it the first time I ran the game before. After that I changed the refresh rate in some files so it would start up at the right ones and I wouldn't have to mess with reforce.

I had the same problem , install the latest drivers from Nvidia , that fixed it for me. Strange thing was the demo worked fine and the problem only happened with the retail version. Good Luck.

might try deleting the entire profiles folder alltogether, that's worked for me before

Yah, when my BF2 goes funky, I just either delete the Battlefield 2 folder in 'My Documents' altogether, or delete the profile folder. Either way has worked for me. Give it a try.

so....

whyd you go from an XL to a NU?

I was holding back from asking this, but now that someone else has... I wanna know too...>.>

lol, well the 6800 nu is just temporary. Its going to go into another system. The the XL got sold and was replaced with a 6800 GT. As for my BF woes, they seem to be all fixed. I re-installed and killed that folder in my documents, everything's running great. thanks for the responces.

If you alter the hardware (new video card, sound card, memory) you have to delete the Battlefield 2 info in the file in "My Documents" or the game tries to load the setup for the old hardware.

You have to remove that profiles folder whenever you switch vid hardware.

I switched from x800xl to gtx sli and almost freaked when BF2 wouldn't start up. I'd rebuilt the system, but had restore My Documents... which includes the dreaded profile directory.
