I've Asus K8V SE Deluxe, X800XT, 1 gig of RAM and A64 3200 Newcastle. What setting should I expect it to run at? Everything's at stock, and I'm limited to a resolution of 1024x768. Also, what would be the most beneficial in terms of additional components?

If your limited to 1024x768 you should be able to max out all the settings. Also being that your limited to 1024x768 I dont see you needing any other parts and I doubt at that res you will even benefit from more ram.

well I have an athlon 2400+
1 gig 2100 ram
evga 6800gt

I run BF2 at high with the exeption of textures that med and a res of 1600x1200, I get 30 50 FPS

you should be ok I think so I second the original reply

you asked for a second opinion, are you having troubles running the game?

i run it at 1024x768 all on high with the system in my sig , just i now have 1.5 gig of ram

a new monitor

I need opinion too. I don't want to make a new thread so:
2500+ barton 1.8ghz
768mb pc2100
9800pro 256bit

I think medium will do fine right?

Alright. WIth the demo, my FPS can dip into the low 30's, and when things blow up, it sort of goes into a slideshow mode. Also, I notice a lot of small stutterings as if I'm lagging.

there have been lots of performance differences with alot of different configs, I get great play and the such whilst the next guy may be having probles and his machine may be better than mine at this point I think that luck has alot to do with it.

What settings and what hardware do you have?

i'd say add more ram or lower the texture setting, going from 1 gig to 2 got rid of all those slowdowns for me and i can now play on high everything including textures at 1600x1200

Asus p4p800-e Deluxe
Intel P4C 3.0 @ 3.95
BFG 6800 Ultra @ 480/1250
2gigs Corsair 3200XLPro

Video card and cpu are water cooled

i saw a VERY noticable difference last week going from 1 gig to 2. it cut my loading time in half and got rid of all the slowdowns that happened from time to time, all this while running at a higher setting for the textures.

ya bf2 is like hit and miss. I went through many card until I settled with the 6800. All the ati card I tried gave me trouble. Everyone is different but for my, at least this time, this card worked out. Another thing for some reason made a difference was AGP fast write. I turned it on and my gameplay was smoother. Why? I have no clue.

I'm running mine on a Athlon Xp barton 2200@2.2ghz, 512mb ram, 6600GT @ stock.. runs great 1024x768@32bpp on highest quality settings, medium shadows.

Go here
http://www.tweakguides.com/BF2_1.html

This is a really good tweak guide that shows what video settings are best and why. It's funny, most of the video settings described state that going from medium to high doesnt show much of a noticeable difference. I've changed most of my settings according to this guide and I'm running rather well.

Running BF2 on my system(Gamer in Sig), sucked with 1GB of ram, while I'm awaiting my RMA on my second stick of HyperX and have Corsair Value Ram on order, I stole a stick of PC2700 from my fileserver for temporary use. The performance difference between 1GB and 1.5GB is night and day. Even going dual channel PC3200 to single channel PC2700 didn't hurt me. BF2 needs ram, doesn't really matter how fast it is, it just needs ram.

Now, with 1.5GB, I have Vsync on, and all in game settings maxed @ 1680x1050 (LCD's native res), all nvidia control panel options set to quality. It is not very often that my fps counter deviates from 60.

O~k... my FPS started to constantly stay in the 20's... it used to be better, but now, as you can see, it's crap.

Athlon XP 2000+
512MB DDR
ATI Radeon 9700 Pro

Settings? 800x600
all set on LOW

I can only play on 16people servers, and 32people servers studder. Forget trying 64people servers.

I can try 64people servers when I turn off Dynamic Light & Shadow from LOW to OFF, and Shadow OFF, but then, the game goes from looking shitty to ultra shit.

Fuck, maybe I should have a fundraiser for that 1GB DDR400 $100ish cas latency 3 RAM stick.
