when im playing BF2 i can hear this static sound in the background. i dont get this with any other game. you guys know anything about this?

i can hear it sometime when i click on something in the options menu and when ingame the game gives you a tip.

What kind of sound card do you have? Have you adjusted the in-game sound quality to see if it makes a difference?

well i dont have a sound card, its onboard with my motherboard. the sound quality is at medium under the software option. i have tried it with and without that special thing at the bottom that you click( i forgot the name).

but its this constant buzzing/static sound in the background.

I don't know about anybody else but I don't get that sound you're describing. Then again I have a SoundBlaster Audigy 2 ZS sound card with updated drivers. Thinking of updated drivers maybe you should go to your motherboard manufacturers website and see if they have any updated drivers for the sound. It couldn't hurt to try anyway.

I got that a bit with the demo when I had onboard sound. Often, for onboard sound, there are drivers that are released by the motherboard manufacturer, but the onboard sound vendor also will have a slightly different driver version available. SOmething to look into.

Make sure you use software mixing if you're using onboard audio. When I had mine on hardware I got a lot of garbled noise.

Sometimes I get 'stuck' sounds. For example sometimes I'll hear the sound of artillery firing on a loop no matter where I run. Other times I'll hear rifle fire on a loop, but it's actually coming from a player (even though he/she is doing nothing). At that point I just run to the other side of the map til it fades out. I've had this problem with my on board 7.1, Audigy 2 ZS 7.1 and my 5.1 headphones with a Realtek codec. Changing from software to hardware and quality levels in the sound options menu doesn't affect it either. Pretty annoying IMO.

I've also experience that. I'm pretty sure it's a random bug inside the game. (what's this... a bug in BF2?!?!)

i get that shit sometimes too...players runnin around with firing sounds comming from them...its some sort of bug...cuz its not always in every map, jusat sometimes i get it...

i have an audigy 2 value...hardware, and high quality sound...good times

I get the static in BF2 too :( ... every sound gets a layer of static on top, no static when no sounds are playing. It also happens in Civ 4. I'm using nForce 2 Soundstorm sound with Dolby Digital encoding to Optical out.... do you know what you're using? I have another nForce 2 mobo from Asus with the MCP-T and it does the same thing, so I assume it's a universal problem with that chipset (have tried a wide variety of sound driver versions). What chipset is your mobo/what type of onboard sound codec are you using?

Oops.. didn't see the post in the middle there describing the cards you've tried. Disregard question about chipset/codec.

That's odd that it happened with the Audigy as well.

Ok i have the solution!!!!!!!

My onboard sound is Realtek AC97 so i searched google for drivers. Then installed them and no more static :).
