So i finally loaded up BF2 to do my test on how much more this card can handle than my 7800gtx. Well, i'm not exactly impressed. I turned everything up to the highest settings in the ATI control panel (except Catalyst AI.. what does it even do?), oh and I put AA at 4x temporal AA.

I'm getting about 25-35fps on average (1680x1050). Now... isnt this crappy? My 7800gtx was getting 40-45fps with the exact same settings (not temporal obviously as nvidia doesnt support it). Am i turning a setting on that shouldnt be on??

EDIT: I just realized I also have adaptive aliasing all the way up, would this kill my performance?

Temporal and Adactive hender your peformance greatly, specialy temporal. Turn those off, run another test and see what you get. Remember that you want to compare apples to apples, and not apples to oranges, then report back.

Sorry to be off topic but...

1680 x 1050?! Are you people freaking mad (or rich)?! I must be the only one here that still has a 15" LCD and plays games at 1024 x 768 :p

well this is strange. disabled temporal and adaptive. im still getting 30fps or so. but i realized, its acting like i have v-sync on - it keeps jumping between 30 and 60fps.. that would explain everything. but i DONT have it enabled in any options, inside of bf2 or on the catalyst panel. ahhhh

ok figured it out. apparently bf2 was insisting on v-sync, and when i changed the CCC setting to disable v-sync, it didnt save the setting. ima idiot. yay. so this is fun, im getting much better fps now, ~50. ty guys.

now try it again with adaptive and temporal and see what you get!! You have COD2, you should try that one as well, this mofo (COD2) is very graphic instense

BTW, Dingo - consolidate your threads. We don't need a seperate thread everytime you fart in your x1900's general direction.

Yeah. It's stupid to have a 500$ video card and some ancient crappy monitor. Your LCD sounds old. What response time does it have?
