And I quote...

"Updated Patch News - January 11th (reproduced from the full community update)

As well as these booster packs, we are of course still utterly devoted to providing updates to Battlefield 2. We can’t say it enough; thank you all for your support and dedication! Update 1.2 is currently undergoing public beta testing and will be released very soon. As with the first list, this second list includes confirmed fixes only:

• Server search filters now work properly

• All mines (Claymore, Anti-vehicle, C4) can now be picked up by the same class that dropped it by using the “G” key.

• Mines can no longer be destroyed with other explosives

• Flash bang effect radius decreased

• Added unlocks for Sniper and AT kits

• Fixed a bug in terrain rendering with night vision, whereby terrain was still dark in dark areas.

• Fixed a bug whereby mods that are not bf2 or not xpack permutate shaders every time a level is loaded.

• Fixed a bug whereby non-xpack mods cannot use xpack shaders.

• Fixed bug in TV guided missiles of Havoc helicopter

• Bug in MP7 fire rate fixed. Ammo count increased and mag count and damage decreased

• APC Update – “Chinese and MEC APCs can now shoot through penetrable materials”. This fix was a miscommunication to the patch team. Chinese and MEC APC’s have been reverted and the LAV25 now no longer shoots through penetrable materials.

• Vehicles no longer disappear when viewed from some vehicles with a HUD (e.g. Tanks).

• Performance gain found in static mesh rendering.

• Detonation radius from grenade launcher explosions has been reduced.

• Grenade launcher projectiles now have a minimum time before arming.

This is a list of confirmed fixes only – we are still looking at others that we hope to be able to announce soon."

Some good stuff in that patch. Hope the stuff works!

Read the post, you two.

"As with the first list, this second list includes confirmed fixes only"

The "fist list", as it were, includes:

- Helicopter now carry 8 missiles rather than 14
- TV-Guided missile now have a shorter range
- Hit points on all air vehicles has been reduced
- AA missile lock has been improved
- Support kits have had their primary weapons adjusted for accuracy
- Sniper kits have had their primary weapons adjusted for accuracy
- Anti-Tank kits have had their primary weapons adjusted for accuracy
- "Dolphin Diving" is no longer possible
- Players can no longer jump and shoot at the same time
- "Prone Spamming" is now fixed
- "Sprint exploit" is now fixed
- The Sa80 weapon has been improved
- The G3A3 weapon has been improved
- Reload while sprinting has been enabled
- Chinese and MEC APCs can now shoot through penetrable materials
- Damage decreased for the M134
- Medic defibrillator paddles have been adjusted. They now reload while not in use.

I felt it unnecessary to post that list twice. But my feelings were wrong... hehe

It's this goofy "technique" where you jump and go prone in the air and land flat on your stomach. If done repeatedly, it's difficult to aim/shoot at the person and hit them. Also, while you're doing this dumbness, you have the ability to shoot your foe. When seen in action it is one SERIOUSLY funny show. Most everyone hates it and it's physically impossible to do outside of gaming. Hence, the removal of "dolphin diving". hehe

Repeatly jump prone which makes you look like youre jumping and prone at the same time giving u accuracy and a low sillouhette (sp).

Interesting... I didn't know there was a bug with the MP7 though. Bah, they've turned it into the wimpy MP5 now.

"• All mines (Claymore, Anti-vehicle, C4) can now be picked up by the same class that dropped it by using the “G” key. " Does that mean that teammates are able to mess up my well-laid c4 traps just for fun?

Wow, fixes for the grenade launcher... great! And being able to pick up claymores and c4 sounds awesome.

Good question... That would suck if teammates could pick up your stuff. But I'm thinking that's the way it's going to be. I think it would be difficult for the code to track whos explosives are whos especially on 64 player maps. Or maybe not? I ain't no programmer...

When they say they fixed dolphin diving, does that mean you can't even jump and then go prone even once? I tend to "dive" behind cover alot.

For the nube tube, does that arming timer like the one the real life grenade launcher have, like not arming till they go past a certain distance?

That's what it sounds like, for instance the grenade has to be launched and be airborne for 1 second before it becomes explosive.

I would think that fixing dolphin diving would mean you no longer see someone flying through the air in a prone position. You should still be able to "dive" behind obstacles it's just that other folks won't see you "diving" behind them.

I'm thinking there must either be a distance arming tick or a timing arming tick. (so folks can't jump straight up and noob tube a guy standing next to them)

I also see nothing about a lean function and a "DNR" option (do not revive) and I also see nothing about a functional bi-pod for the Support and Sniper kits.

I didn't see that on any of their lists, either. You DID post your suggestions on the EA patch suggestion list, didn't you? ;)

I thought i read something about more accurate MGs. As of now the support weapons are useless beyond 10ft.

No, I was unaware that their was a patch suggestion list.

Got a link?

\rant I don't care how they stopped dolphin diving i just hope it's gone for good, even if they sacrificed the whole idea of proning, whatever works and prevents DD... argh I hate it, even worse than bunny hopping and I hate that too lol.. Fabruary 1st will be a good day..
Bazy's Out!

How about removing that annoying CD check. That crap gets old. It's an online game with a unique ID... Why in the hell does it need a CD check?!

Fix the invisible walls. Flying a jet - and boom - dead. Thank you invisible wall.

Yep, ditto both of those. Bothersome to say the least.

"Where are you going soldier? You are leaving the battlefield. Return to the fight soldier, or you will be shot."

Listen to your radio sometimes. You get warned about that invisible wall.

There's one on the sea side somewhere near a carrier that doesn't give a warning. Calling the wall intentional or a feature is absurd. You go too far out - you get shot down - not splat dead boom before the counter even starts. It's a bug plain and simple.

You shouldn't be flying away from the action in the first place so complaining about it is a moot point.

And every time I've wandered outside of the battlefield I get that warning. Of course I never see the timer because I always get ack in the fight.

Actually circling toward the carrier whether bombing or repairing... Wouldn't call the flying AWAY from the fight.

As I said before - no warning - boom. Try it sometime.

The bug he speaks of is just north of the dock flag on Dragon Valley 64 player. It's inside the battlefield and very relevant to flight patterns. It's straight west of the carrier and in no way "away from the action".

Nice, I like the prospect of less noobtubers on Karkand. Now eliminate bunnyhoppers and dolphindivers, and I am a very satisfied BF2 player.

Finally EA/DICE is going on the right track! This patch sounds like it's going to kick some major ass! Not to mention the fact that they have announced that they are working on ANOTHER patch after this one.

There is also new information on the two new booster packs which are coming out in the next 2 months. Pfft . . . they sound kick ass too! I'll go get some linkage.

Note: My name is Jnick, and I'm a BF2 addict

Hello everyone and a Happy New Year to all of you.

Today we have some big announcements that we’re excited to share with you! First of all, news about 2 new booster packs that will expand the battlefields of Battlefield 2: Battlefield 2: Euro Force and Battlefield 2: Armored Fury.

Euro Force will be released on February 8th and sees the introduction of the all-new European Army in 3 new maps. Each Euro soldier will come equipped with a new primary weapon, from the FNP90 to the Benelli Tactical Shotgun. There will also be 4 new vehicles, including the (in)famous Eurofighter.

The 3 maps are “Operation Smoke Screen”, “The Great Wall of China” and “Taraba Quarry”.

Armored Fury will be released on March 28th and the focus is on large mechanized battles, harking back to the El Alamein style maps on BF1942. There will be 3 new maps – “Midnight Sun”, “Operation Harvest” and “Operation Road Rage” – but also 2 new vehicle classes. Attack Jets and Recon Helicopters, which can spot nearby enemy units, will make their debut.

Both packs will be available exclusively online at downloader.ea.com at £5.99 in the UK.

~$10 for each pack, I'm game. Though I'm not sure I like the idea it's Download only :(.

And . . . err . . . I thought we ALWAYS had attack jets? (6 Missiles, 2 bombs - a la Mig-29 & F-18 . . .?)

[EDIT} Here's some more info on Battlefield 2: Euro Force - Including Pics!!

WTF!? Alright, this is probably the first time I'm starting to join the angry side. What, by the end of February I'm going to be riding up on $100 spent on BF2 if I go for there "packs." Wow holy crap. Can't come out with an expansion & two "packs" within a year and pretend you didn't hold back on the originals etc.

yeah i'm not paying for content updates that i can get free from any other game like cs:s
f ea corporate

True, EA does it for the $ (who doesn't?). However, you can't compare the features included in BF2 to those in CS:S . . . they're completely different.

You do realize that if a medic revives you within the 15 second time limit you are not penalized for a death, right?

I used to get pissed off myself when some retard medic would keep reviving me over and over again in the middle of a firefight. That was until I realized that none of the deaths actually counted. Now I dont give a shit. Its less of a walk back to kill some more people if they are succesful.

Hammer hits nail...BINGO. Still love the game, though.

It's going to be the same pick up code for the grappling hooks and zip lines, which can only be picked up by the person who deployed it.

I'm not saying medics shouldn't do thier jobs.

But there are certain times a medic should not revive.

For instance, an artillery barrage, a very large scale gun battle where everytime you are revived you only die again. There are other times where you may want to change squads, change kits and the medic revives you.
