BF2 Patch Help

When I go to run the patch it either just sits at Patching please wait for ever or will freeze my pc any one know whats up...

There is very little information during the patching process. I restarted the computer before patching - it took a LONG time with no update on the screen, but it works eventually.

I ran into a problem where it kept failing but it was because I had the BF2 demo still installed.

This being said when I applied the patch it took forever, and I thought it was frozen many times.

Whats the new versions number, in the game? It shows it up top right. I ask because, it tells me the patch failed, but then says it installed it.

edit, mine is 1.0.2442.0. I dont recall what it was when I first installed it.

make sure you have 1gb free on the drive that you are installing the patch on

the DL is faster than the patch process, be patient

When running the patch.. It appears frozen
However, when I left it on.. it eventually finished.

So leave it running.. It should not take longer than 5-6 minutes

You arent listening. It tells me it failed, after about 20 seconds. Then says its finished, and its installed.

Can someone just tell me what version of the game they have, thanks.

The 1.01 patch brings the game to v1.1.2475.0

There's a patchlog.txt in My Documents\Battlefield 2\dmp\ -- see if you've got one and if so if there's any error messages there.

There is a LOT of stuff if there. It seems its looking for different languages for some reason. None of which I deleted.

Just for the record, here's the log for a successful patch. The absolutely first thing you should do is to verify that your downloaded executable is valid. One "simple" way of doing that is to use open the torrent over the file you have already downloaded (force the client to re-check the file if necessary). Or you can run md5sum and make sure it's "87c44e0a82cc154917c9801f567e81cc"

Im reinstalling, I remember now that I didnt install the VoIP, so I guess thats why I got those errors. Which is dumb to me, because its optional to install it. I dont want to hear everyone yakking on there.

So now Im reinstalling, and getting errors.

"MD5Eerror: E:\Battlefield 2\mods\bf2\Common_client.zip, retry?" It has a Yes?no box, I hit yes, nothing, hit it again, nothing, hit no, and it passes it. Then errors on something else. Needless to say Im pretty ticked that they cant put out a simple patch that works.

fallguy, that last line "invalid patch file" makes me wonder if your DL is corrupted.

and theres a check box in the audio settings to turn on/off VOIP if you install it

I thought that too, I downloaded from another location.

But now I cant even install the game from scratch, which is even more annoying.

Finally got it installed. Just kept on saying no.. the patch installed also. Took about 20 seconds, not as long as a lot of people were saying.
