I have been trying to play bf2 on vista home premium but the game jerks like crazy, I have checked my framerate and this is always around 80 - 140 and my ping is around 26 - 32 all the time.

I run it as admin, disable themes and desktop compisition and have also tried running it in xp compatibility mode but nothing works.

My Rig:
E6300 @ 3.2ghz
P965-DS3 Motherboard
2gb Crucial Ballistix Tracer @ 916 (memtest stable)
ATI X1950XT
250gb Hitachi Sata drive 8mb cache
Hyper Type R Modular 530w PSU

It worked perfectly under XP and all other games work great on vista except this one, anyone have any suggestions how to stop it jerking around?

Thanks in advance

I'm running Vista Ultimate and my BF2 install "jerks" for the first few minutes that I'm playing it. This only happen when I first get into a game, the HDD activity goes through the roof for about 2 minutes, after that the game runs fine without a hitch. I'm not sure what the system is doing, but I've noticed that it does this in other games as well, specifically World of Warcraft.

I had the same exact problem in BF2 and could never fix it. My solution was to go back to XP for gaming, and to just dual boot to Vista for everyday use.

Check your sound settings, seriously.
My AV710 couldn't handle EAX, and it would make the game jerky at all times.
Turned back to onboard :( and it worked fine. AV710 you will always be in my heart!!!

Have you tried installing the game on a disk that isn't your OS disk?

I disabled EAX for my audigy card which did seem to make a difference.

I dont have a spare drive knocking around but that may be something to look at

vista 32bit ultimate + bf2 here... the hitching issues are rare, and when I do notice it, lasts no more than the first minute online.

Disabling the shadow copy service does also seem to help I will have to test for longer though to know the problem is gone for sure but disabling this also stops the system restore from functioning which will probably bite me in the ar*e at some point.

Keep the idea's coming guys, this seems to be problem with a lot of bf2 players using vista at the moment.

I had the same issue with vista64...

went back to XP

If I reinstall, i'll try disabling the shadow files

Does your BF2 crash sometimes and give you a memory error?

I am not sure if that's directed to me, but no I haven't had that happen to me, ever..

before 1.41 it would randomly kick me otu of hte game and bring me to the desktop, I'd have to reboot before launching the game again...but that seems to have been fixed
