So i just bought an asus 7600 gs 512 yesterday and i bought a new board to go along with it, the asus a8n5x, amd chipset, i have a system with and amd proc. running at 1.8 ghz, 2 gigs of ram, and like i said above a 7600.

now the problem is that when i go to join a bf2 online server it freezes up, it starts by enlarging the server screen so just a corner of it fills the whole screen, then when it finally does go to the actuall loading screen it just hangs, and about every 30 seconds the "2" cursor moves a bit, and the music sounds like its freezing as if the card was overclocked to much or over heating. The card ISNT overheating, and i havent overclocked it though. If i try to alt tab out of the bf2 process or ctrl alt delete out nothing happens, so i reboot. After rebooting if i run bf2 again the bottom half of the screen thats black right before the ea stuff and all that start in the beginning looks as if again the card was overclocked to much or over heating. so basically its a bunch of small lines of reds greens and blues purples etc.

I can run bf2 fine single player and i can play other games on the internet fine. Bf2 so far is the only time ive had problems

anyone have any ideas what i should do!?

Try reinstalling the game? make sure your vid card is fully seated in the slot too. Don't know why it would only do it when you join an online server though...

Just to make sure, turn off all your firewalls and turn your network settings in BF2 to Cable and not LAN.

Like polive said it sounds like your install/drivers got messed up somewhere. Uninstall game, reinstall DirectX 9.0c June, reinstall newest vid driver, install BF2 and then the full 1.3 patch.
