I just purchased a VGA Silencer. I put it on my computer, and my overclock increased on my 9500 to 390mhz. I also upgraded to Catalyst 3.10s. Now, I use Rage tweak to overclock, so normally my card runs at 300mhz. Playing at 300mhz, with 4x AA and 8x AF, I experience texture corruption in BF1942. The texture coruption appears after about 2 hours and disappears when a new game starts. However, it sometimes reappears. Usually the corruption appears as patches in the water, but yesterday it appeared as equally spaced small squares on the land. I think my VGA Silencer is making good contact with my core, since I took it off once already and almost the whole thing was covered with paste. However, there is a portion that might not be making contact with the core. However, I have used other heatsinks with AS5, and I never had any texture problems. And if the problem was my heatsink not making good contact, I wouldn't be able to overclock so high testing it using 3DMark, right?
Could it be the new drivers? Or is it the VGA Silencer?
