BF1942 Corruption

I just purchased a VGA Silencer. I put it on my computer, and my overclock increased on my 9500 to 390mhz. I also upgraded to Catalyst 3.10s. Now, I use Rage tweak to overclock, so normally my card runs at 300mhz. Playing at 300mhz, with 4x AA and 8x AF, I experience texture corruption in BF1942. The texture coruption appears after about 2 hours and disappears when a new game starts. However, it sometimes reappears. Usually the corruption appears as patches in the water, but yesterday it appeared as equally spaced small squares on the land. I think my VGA Silencer is making good contact with my core, since I took it off once already and almost the whole thing was covered with paste. However, there is a portion that might not be making contact with the core. However, I have used other heatsinks with AS5, and I never had any texture problems. And if the problem was my heatsink not making good contact, I wouldn't be able to overclock so high testing it using 3DMark, right?

Could it be the new drivers? Or is it the VGA Silencer?

Try going to the DNA Radeon 3.10 drivers (http://dna-drivers.nl ? I forgot the exact link, do a google for DNA Radeon Drivers). Or back-date your Radeon 3.10 drivers to 3.9. There have been many issues with the newer BF42 patches and the video drivers. A couple months ago, it was Nvidia cards having all the issues.

See if that fixes your problem.

Remember the DNA drivers are not official ATi products, but have been known to give a good boost in performance. They also feature a built in OC tool and various other features. But you won't get the WQHL (or whatever) signing, and you'll need to completely remove the original ATI drivers then reinstall with the DNA drivers.

I have a similar problem with bf1942 and corruption on my 9200se, so i might go and give the dna drivers a try.

Cheers
