BF:V Patch friday...

Everyone on that EA message board seems to think the patch is a hoax anyway...

So I'm not holding my breath until I see it up on FileHell or somewheres else.

Im going on past experience. And from my experience most people have to wait a good 2-3 patches before they get most of the major bugs cleared up...

Open your eyes and start looking at both sides. Sick of these tunnel vision "it works for me" people.
 
Dudes, the patch is a big hoax, over at the IGN boards they figured this all out after a whole ton of us got our hopes up, but the guy that posted it isn't even an EA mod or anything, he's been banned now, so its all just a big load of BS. Smelled fishy, didn't it...
 
Well the patch did seem a little quick for EA's typical customer support...

i added that line too, didnt fix much though
and i also have those lines, they distract me when im flying caus i think someone is shooting at me lol

because it isn't a matter of waiting a week. Even in a total rush, for a game witha decent sized first pressing, the time from gold to store shelves is about 2 weeks. They ahve been working on the patches for at LEAST 3 weeks, if not substantially longer as you seldom have a code freeze just as you go gold.

Games are VERY complex pieces of code these days, and the PC is a very amorphous piece of hardware to test on. About the best you can really expect is frequent patches in a timely manner and a save game system that is robust enough to survive the game getting significantly patched.
 
While I think it will help balance the game to require prone M60 firing, I don't like how they are accomplishing it (hopefully just a quick fix). I have seen an M60 fired from the shoulder and hip while moving. Granted, accuracy was only good to about 10-15 meters, and that only by using very short bursts (and yes, he was experienced as well). I realize of course that BF is not out for realism in every way to begin with, but I think the M60 could be balanced by adjusting accuracy and recoil based on position and duration of fire.

As to the two man teams for the M60. I believe that the second man was merely there for support (protect the 60), extra ammo (maybe a barrel or two), and to take over the gun in the event that the primary gunner went down. Training dictated that the gun should be set up in a defensible position from which to lay down suppressive fire. Nothing there to prevent you from firing it otherwise though (short of the hefty kick).

I have fired an M14 on full auto (same round as M60, 7.62mm) while standing, and it kicked like a bastard. Of course it's a lighter gun, so it will climb much faster than an M60 would. Needless to say, I wasn't very accurate. I think the M60 would do much better because of its added weight. I have also fire an M249 SAW on full auto in a prone position. I saw no reason why I could not have fired it kneeling or standing (other than that they would let me). Higher rate of fire, but smaller round (5.56mm like the M16), so I can compare this directly.

Blah, anyway. I guess you can say I just like having my guns be as accurate as possible in games, 'cus... I like guns. :D

Yeah, you guys are idiots. The thing is a hoax, why would they post it in the general discussion board rather than in EA's official anouncements? The original thread was deleted pretty quickly after the thing happened, stop talking about it or you'll just get more people's hopes up to be crushed.

I'll post them when I get home (about 1.5hours). I got one of the lines from a thread on these forums...just happened to make a HUGE difference on my system (as seen in sig). I'll see if things play any better though since my shiny new 3.0c arrived today from Newegg :D

Thanks. Please do. Im feeling my system is a littel sluggish, when it should really be up to the task. Im going to slap 1Gb of HyperX in when I get home and ditch this 512 crap. :D Should help alot.
 
here are the lines:

The following line goes into Default.con (located in the Mods\BfVietnam\settings folder)

The following line goes into videodefault.con (located in the same folder as default.con)

renderer.allowAllRefreshRates 1


the sound buffer can be increased to whatever number you choose, but I haven't messed with it since it solved my jerkiness problems.
 
I wish they would fix the distancing perspective. From your perspective, the barrel of your gun could be perched on the edge of a ravine. From the perspective of the enemy, your entire torso is hanging over the edge of the ravine. It makes snipers almost completely useless in both 1942 and Vietnam.

ummm....I haven't been in the military... but I have fired an M60, M16, and a demo LAW rocket (non live round)...and I'd be very impressed by a helicopter that could take 100 rounds from an m60 and not at least start having some serious issues.

Just to confirm your ideas, the hydraulic system on a chopper could be completely ruined with a single round (The pressure dies and the hydraulics fail). Of course, that'd be too easy, but they're far too strong as of now.
 
thank God for this patch. This is by far the most fun I've ever had with a game... if only for these damn crashes.

Even though the patch is a hoax I have to say I dont have a problem with them releaseing games early if they can patch it up later instead of waiting weeks more for a release. Unlike most other games, BF is kind of a only meant for multiplayer game (there is almost no single player aspect) and thus most of us who play it have high speed to down a patch to later fix problems in order to play the game a little early.
 
Finally someone who doesn't think like its goign to be painful to download a frekaing patch. Seriously, big deal if the game is buggy now, I'd rather have a buggy game now that will get fixed than having to wait 2 more months for them to make sure all the pussy whiners won't throw a hissy fit.

this is what I've been saying from the start. We always have the "shutup pussie.. it works for me" posts for everything. Were extremely happy it works for you. Now get off the high horse and realize it doesnt for all.
 
Wow, too bad I haven't even been able to play the game online yet, nor turn on any EAX, nor get the sounds to work consistently, yet do you see me crying like my vagina is full of sand? I'm no "fanboy on my high horse," its just that I don't pms when something doesnt work right away. This game is basically unplayable in single player, the bots are idiots, so I haven't even gotten to experience the game yet and I was more excited about this one than UT2k4. Did I ever say "shut up it works for me?" No, I said calm the **** down, they'll fix the game soon (hopefully), and you're not going to die because the game doesn't work now. Yes we'd all like it too, but jesus christ get a life, there's other things out there than BF:V.

honestly what can [H] really do about this? People will have to either sell the game, or pull up ther panties and wait for the patch. Any other options? I can't really think of any.
 
It's Friday, and no sign of a patch as of yet. Would guess the rumors of it are just a hoax.

As for you geniuses that posted wondering where the patch is AFTER I let all of you know that its a hoax, I hope you feel stupid as hell, next time read the thread not just the title.
 
Hey I was talking to someone on the inside today and supposedly they are bringing out a patch Tuesday.
