Recently i noticed that my CPU temps were creaping up. On checking the Zalman 7000 AlCu heatsink I found dust cloging the fins. These heatsinks have very fine gaps at the base of their fins and can easily clog. Just something to be aware of.

More seriously, I discovered that the clamping mechanism used to mount the heatsink had bowed the mainboard! The instructions say to fully tighten the screws, but this apparently is too much and left my board with a permanent (potentially damaging) warp.

You know nothing about a bowed mainboard till you clamp down a Factory intel, try it.

And Dust clogs every heatsink!!! SK's are worse for this this, i've noticed. Put filters on your intakes.

So true dam them factory hsf's from intel fully stress test the mb pcb lol:p

Your going to get dust anyways. That's why you take the heatsink off every 6 months or so and clean it.

Yeah, dust does clog all fans in your system not just the fan on the heatsink. Try cleaning your system on a regular basis.

Oh i do, and dust hasnt caused any problems. Prior to the Zalman i used the intel stock HSF. Its wider fin spacing made the dust settle at the base of the heatsink. The much finer fin spacing of the Zalman makes the dust form a 'web' higher up. Just an obervation.
