Better solution in Hyper-V for network card

Currently, we are running Hyper-V and can only seem to get 2 kinds of network cards. We can either select a legacy adapter capable of 100mbps ... or the new card which can do 10GBps but won't let us setup NLB.

We can only get NLB working on the legacy adapters.

Has anyone come across a situation like this?
 
The legacy adapter is not actually limited to 100 Mbps throughput, it will handle whatever speed the hardware on its virtual switch will handle, but it does have more overhead from a virtualization perspective.

Just like the non-legacy adapter doesn't really give you 10 Gbps throughput when attached to a virtual switch that isn't 10 Gbps.

Can you link to some documentation for this? We tried maxing out the legacy NIC and as soon as we started pushing more than 100mbps of traffic it began dropping packets like crazy. Pings to the VM server started to time out etc.

The physical NIC is a 1gbps nic.. so it wasn't the hardware.
