Better at audio effects processing: X2 or C2D?

I am working with this brilliant paino modeling program called www.pianoteq.com. It does with 15mb what multi DVD piano samples do, and that is sound really really good. I run this on my PC right now but I want to play out with it but no way am I transporting my TJ07 tower. So buying a new mobile PC seems like a reasonable thing to do. The modeling program supports multi-core so i am wondering which arcitechture I could get the most bang out of the buck for this application. I've seen charts where the Core2 excells in ways AMD's X2 doesn't and vice versa. Is the C2D known to be good at audio and math computation (which i assume this modeling program does a lot of)?

Core 2 would be better than anything AMD has to offer at the moment at any price point.
