Best Wireless HDMI streamer?

what do you want to steam and from where?

Debates over being able to stream 1080 high quality content well, vs say 720.....

Good luck streaming 1080p without line of sight.

The technology still has a bit more to mature.

yeah something like that. From a cablebox in the basement upto the 2nd floor (no RF in 2nd floor). 720p/1080i max.

yeah... not gonna happen without line of sight as another poster mentioned.
You'll have to arrange cables one way or another, sounds like it'd be much easier to get a cable outlet on the 2nd floor as you won't have to get IR to the cable box that way. .

Yeah... full bandwidth wireless HDMI has a range of maybe 10 meters, and that is under line-of-sight. You can do slightly better with less than 1080p, but not by all that much.

So yes, you'll unfortunately need to run cable or find another solution.

That being said, if it helps anyone else:

The above is under $150, and while it is an older model, it's still very highly rated.

I tried the Actiontec wireless hdmi system. It does work for 1080p, but the end result is definitely compressed.

Hmm.. Might as well route RG6 then. Thanks for the input everyone!

Ya you can have 1080i/p res but it can be a low bitrate / compress to all heck much like you get on say iTunes and most streaming services.

Most of the cheap ones you'll find will unfortunately compress the image. I use a Gefen wireless HDMI setup. It does lossless streaming over 60ghz, so short range and line of sight only for the most part. Does work quite well, but they aren't cheap.
