i have a large selection of cds and dvds in slimline cases, and am running out of room can anyone recommend any dj style cd\dvd storage cases that will not scratch the media? thanks.

How many are we actually talking and how easly accessable do they need to be?

As long as you keep the hardware around to read it, wouldn't putting it, or keeping it, on a HD or microdrive, be best? I know that audio tapes seem to last for decades.

And CD-R is a matter of burning dye. I wonder how long that lasts in the burn state as opposed to a commercial pressing?

I could be wrong, but I would tend to trust magnetic storage to CD-R storage, long term - again, as long as you keep the other required hardware around to be able to read that magnetic storage.

how many cds are you talking about ? if i where you i would back them up on a big arse thumb drive ;)

I hope you are not serious.

raggers, it really depends on how much you want to spend on data backup. If you have tons of data, tapes are a nicer alternative to DVDs.

I.

You might take a look at Mitsui and Taiyo Yuden longevity specs 300/100 years. The environment requirements don't seem ridiculous.
