Best way to install X-Fi Titanium Drivers

When I get my replacement P8P67 Pro MB, I'm going to install an X-Fi Titanium Champion with a fresh Win 7 install. Usually, I install hardware like video cards with the latest driver available online rather than the drivers on the disk. But, if I recall in the past my X-Fi Platinum had to install from the disk initially because the updates weren't a complete set of files. Some things were left out like DTS I think because you had to validate the install by using the original disk.

So, my question is should I install from the CD and then run the updater, or is the updated driver file(s) from Creative complete so I can just download and install them without the install disk?

That link is for DTS. The Titanium original does not require web validation nor a passcode to install with the Titanium. It was included as part of the driver CD. These are standalone versions. You will have no problem installing those with your card.

Thanks!

Arg - I went through this a few weeks ago, and it was a massive pain! I had to un-install and re-install several times before I finally got it all working (and I'm still not completely satisfied with the settings I'm using). If I could even remember what all I went through, I'd tell you. :p

All I can say is the drivers that are needed to get an X-Fi Titanium card working have to be downloaded and installed in several (at least 4, iirc) separate parts, so make sure you don't miss any. And of course there are a few pieces of bloat-ware that they try to force on you - I managed to avoid installing a few of them, but still got stuck with at least one.

I have another question along the lines of this thread, but think I should probably start another thread instead of asking here...
