Best way to get people in the dorms to fold?

Basically, I'm known as the "computer guy" around here because I, well, know the most about computers on this floor, and probably in the whole hall (not to sound arrogant, but I just haven't run across people that know much about computers). This leads me to fixing most people's problems. This allows me plenty of access to other's computers, and I was thinking, what would be the best way to get people added to the folding cause? How should I go about asking all of these people to add the client to their machines in a convincing manner?

Besides all the usual talk of benefits to science - tell them if they want help or advice they've got to fold. And then borg their computer. If you set it up so it starts by itself as a service, and shuts down correctly, most of them may never notice.

I would just tell them a little about it, and then show them Stanford's website. This way, you can start their interest in folding and show how a lot of people are doing this for humanity.
Plus, showing all the stats and scores is a bonus too - doesn't everyone like a little competition and looking at stats? Or is it just me? :p

hide the folding client in some porn:D

j/k

i've been bugging my brother to use his computers for a distributed computer project about every other week for over 5 years but he never listens. IT BUGS THE HECK OUT OF ME TOO! ARGH!!@!!1#

but i got my mom to start folding when she heard about all the diseases it could cure.

i'd just tell the people about the project, and how folding doesn't slow down your computer at all. some people will be like my brother and say "My computers won't really help much" but i'm sure most would be interested.

look in the faq at the top of this forum for a link to wonderful autoinstallers. (2k and XP, runs even if not logged on, runs in the background with no icons or things to dork with.. PERFECT for people who don't want to touch it or see it : )
go get um...

Your free computer service should give you an edge for sure..and if I recall.........and it's been a while......at that age free beer should do it;)

BillR hit the nail right on the head. In college beer is the only reliable motivator.

I third that. Beer was the only currency I needed in college. :)
