Hello,

I'm looking for the best way to get video output. I have tried a the svideo outs on my laptop, a radeon 700, and a radeon 9500. They don't seem to be able to match the quality of the same file burned as a dvd (which requires conversion to mpeg2).

Video output to what?
Standard TV? PAL or NTSC? HDTV? Projector? Type of input available on whatever type display?

Exactly. It depends on whether the source is mostly analog or mostly digital, available interfaces, etc. etc.

Source: Digital
Output: Analog, NTSC, S-Video connector, standard crt tv, perhaps projection but doubt it.

When i get hdtv i'll be sure to get one with dvi or regular crt type monitor input :).

Can your TV take SCART or component video? Those would be the next best thing after S-video. Otherwise, what output is your DVD player using?

It's a 4 year old tv 36 inch jvc tube that takes s-video (what my dvd player is using).

I'm just wondering why s-video out on the radeon is not on par with s-video out on my dvd player even when playing the same thing.

What resolution are you running the video-out on the radeon at?
