Best VIdeo Card under $75

What is the best video card that I can purchase under $75 preferably off of newegg.com.

Thank you,
Much appreciated,
Roboctor.

You might be able to find a 9600XT for 70 on rebate at Best Buy or online somewhere but don't count on getting finding a lot of good deals at that price range.

I'm looking for the best quality video card. It can be low on the graphics side of things, but I just need something to play CS with, that's it.

If board quality is what you're talking about, the 9600XT is fine. They're all about the same unless you get into the higher end stuff.

Those are too expensive on newegg.com

I 'd prefer this one though.

o yeah also the ti4600 is a nice card and possibly faster than the 9600pro too.. if u can find one for ubnder 90 buvks.. those are fast but the 9600pro has more features and can run cs at 100fps constant..

The Ti4600 is out of my budget

Check out the hot deals section on Anand and Fatwallet. ATI has a trade-in program (any working card will do) and a coupon. I think people are getting a new BBA 8600Pro for $102. I'd guess that's the best your getting for $100.

I'm under the same price limit ($100) and trying to find a used 9700pro or 9800np. :)

for 75 bux, a used Radeon 9500pro will be the best video card....followed by Radeon 9600xt then 9600pro....if you can get a used Radeon 9500 pro...go for it.. It has 8 pipelines...the 9600pros only have 4

just looking for a card to play CS with. Currently have NVDIA GeForce4 Ti 4200 with AGP8X and it works great!

Need about the same quality, maybe a little more.

*Also, can you guys compare the current card that I have with the ones you have been recommending?

thanks

He said he wanted to play an Opengl game, the nv fx series is great at opengl, much better than the ati radeon series in fact.

Try to find a used 9700pro. Can't beat that in the range you're talking.

the 128mb sapphire 9550se 128bit sells for $59
http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=14-102-458&depa=0
from the reviews i read this card is pretty good and overclocks nicely.

rosewill 128mb radeon9600 128bit $76
http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=14-164-022&depa=0
the rosewill card isnt too bad, my friend was able to overclock it to 400core/420memory. i would prefer this over the r9000 r9100 r9200 fx5200 fx5500 fx5600 and possibly the fx5700.

the requirements for counterstrike 1.6 are awfully low (youre not talking about source right?). almost any video card nowadays can play it, as i have friends that plays it on a 1ghz athlon with a 32MB geforce2gts and gets about 40fps at 800x600.

The gf 2 gts has some balls to it, it's no biatch. Hell the gf 2 cards have balls to them it's just that they mostly have sdram instead of ddr, but the gts with ddr is a pretty decent card. I went from gf 2 gts to my 9800se and I'd say I wouldn't compare the two but if I had to the gf2 is decent.

the rosewill card you listed has been put in a few machines I have built for family and friends as of recent. It is a fine card that does handle source. I reccomend that, you will not go wrong.

Oh, good grief.

IGNORE ALL THE ABOVE SUGGESTIONS

If you are playing an OpenGL game with a Ti4200 already....wait, here, let me show you:

opengl_performance.gif

As you can see, the Ti4200 outperforms everything short of a GeForce 5600 Ultra or Radeon 9600 XT. Neither of which you'll find for less than $150.

(Oh, and that '9600 Pro EZ' you linked? Same performance as the 9600 SE - and check out where that is on the list!)

When you're right, you're right. I made my above suggestion without weighing the performance delta between the 4200 and the 5500...

who cares we are talking about cs 1.6 here.. sheez.. it demands literally nothing to play.. grab a 9600pro or not from rosewill... that card will be more than fast enough for 1.6 and will be decent for source.. go get it

ti4200 owns everything in its price range, speed wise in dx8 and open gl.

if you want aniso tropic filtering and higher lvls of AA or dx9 performance go for 9600 pro at minimum.

personally i would try for a 9700 pro refurbished.

But the 4200 is better than the 9600 pro. Why are you telling him to downgrade?

Eh. It all depends. I have a 9600xt and I love it. The 9600 pro (non EZ) is the same thing with a 400Mhz clock instead of a 500Mhz on the XT. Memory speed is the same.

I play CS:S with my XT at 1024x768 2xAA 2xAF and it stays above 30fps, plenty for me.

If you are only going to use it for old games like CS 1.6, get a 4200, but if you plan on playing DX9 games, look for a used 9600 pro (non ez) or something. Most 9600pro's can OC to XT speeds with stock cooling.

Oh, and you're using a chart from Tom's Hardware? That takes some balls to post that in [H]ardForums.

how dare you say that the 4600 is fater then the 9600P Ive had one of these cards..the 9600pro..its a NICE card for the price..and will play CS and CS:S fine...give it a go..but dont go loading up doom 3 or some shit..it hates that game..lol...

A F@#$%ING 0.1 of a frame! who cares at thoes frame...thats a crappy way of doing it..we all no the GF4 own on openGL...but the cards we mentions are going to be good as well..we arnt trying to make him make a bad decision...

Yeah, but the point is he *already has* a Ti4200!

What's the point on spending $100 on a card that is SLOWER than the one he ALREADY HAS!?

If he was looking at BUYING a Ti4200 or Radeon 9600 Pro, your argument would hold merit.

But he's not.

He's already got the Ti4200!

Those Ti's were way ahead of their time. You'd want to look at a 6800nu or 6600GT to upgrade from it and still be getting a decent value in the current market. Everything else would basically be a ripoff in the AGP selection.

yea unless if u had a gfmx440 or somethin like that. i'd suggest u keep ur card a while longer till more games come out that u feel ur card cannot handle anymore. but that'll be in the incoming months. so i say wait and see if prices fall. btw i don't trust tom anymore :(

Ah, I didn't see that he had a Ti4200. Yeah, for old skool CS, a Ti4200 will work just about as well as modern cards. Save up til you start playing DX9 games.
