Looking into a new vid card. Current rig's a XP2600barton locked, but i oc'ed it to 11.5x198, abit nfsv2, 512mb geil ram, and a saphire radeon 9500 non pro. I really dont think i need something like a 7800 or x800xl cause i dont feel that the cpu would be able to keep up and im looking for a reasonable price vid card to put in. Nvidia or ATI dont really care. I figured at 9800 may be the best bet but thats why im here asking LOL Thanks

You are running at over xp3200 speeds.. A 6800gt/x800xl would not be bottlenecked hardley at all above 1280x1024 by that cpu.. Don't believe the ,(OH my god my cpu is *@%&$?! bottlenecking my vid card), hype.. The cpu IS important, but either of the 2 cards I mentioned can play todays games at or above 1280x1024 quite niceley, provided you upgrade your system mem, to 1 gig or better, on that rig of yours..

edit: If you are planning to upgrade the whole thing in less than 6 months, you might want to hold off till you do.. Or maybe pick up a used 6600 series in the FSFT thread, just to get you through till you do a full upgrade..

yea i've thought about picking up two more 256 sticks since i have 4 dimms. I think i might got for a 6600 or somethin and move this card into another cheap rig im tryin to build up. Just gotta cruise ebay and fs/ft for a good deal. Would you chose the Nvidia over Ati...and does it matter brand? MSI, PNy, etc
