I was just wondering if any one had any ideas on the best bang for your buck under 400$? I've been looking at 7800 GTX's and 7900GT's but i cant really find anny reviews on the differences between the two. I haven't heard much good about ATI really so i dunno what to do their.. Mainly i'm wondering comparisons about the to above cards but any other suggestions would be very helpful thanks for any help you can give...

I saw a X1900XT for sub 400 today and was also wondering how it compared, Im a ATI fan from back in the day (running a 9700 Pro) so i was wondering how the difference is their as well..

Also i was wondering how big a difference the 512/256 mb really makes.. All the 7800 GTX reviews say 512MB but for the life of me i cant find a 512 MB version available to purchase...

so far ijm looking at
512MB X1900XTX 399$
256MB 7800GTX 399$
256 7900GT 319ish$
256 7900GT 600Mhz 369$

78GTX performes a little under the 79GT.

Get the X1900.

question about brand names as well VisionTek vs MSI? which would you pick?

Either or would probably be a good choice, I would go with the MSI one, as [H] did do a review on them. But Sapphire is my personal favorite ATI brand of cards.

Though I'm waiting for the DX10 cards, I'd get either a BFG or eVGA 7900GT, personally.

If I were in your shoes, I would buy the 7900GT 256mb. If I didn't know Conroe and DX10 parts were coming soon later this year, I would've gotten the 7900GT and flashed the BIOS to increase the voltages and the clock speeds and watercooled it down to match the specs of the 7900GTX. For $299, I think it's an awesome deal considering the considerable modding and overclocking potential.

QFT.

eVGA is a good choice, and so is the 7900gt, especially with DX10 around the corner.

I've never technically had eVGA cards, but their warranty's pretty nice. And BFG's tech support, no matter how infuriated I get with the company due to a crappy card I got once, always makes me smile due to their professionality and friendliness.

Well im using a Raedon 9700 Pro now, and it'll probably be a year till DX10 stuff drop to a price i'd wanna buy at and i just found a X1900XTX for 399$ so im thinken for an extra 100$ is that big a deal for the preformance and from what im reading the XTX are gonna preform better in newer games that aare heavy on the shaders, the XT is only 20$ less so im gonna grab the XTX what do you think? I think its a better deal then 256MB nvidia cards that cost the same..

I can only get the deal price on MSI or Visontek so which would you try? the Vision tech is rated 650Mhz while the MSI is rated 625mhz....
