I have all the parts to make 2 s478-based boxen except the cpus, but im not sure what to get. i'm looking for the best price-performance socket 478 cpu and maybe the best one for socket A too, not sure yet.

I was thinking a high end celeron D @ 2.8ghz or so, or a slightly older p4 like a 2.4b or something. what do you guys think? also, what benchmarks would best reflect the folding potential of a cpu?

The AMD Semprons (Socket A flavor) OC nicely, too, and are dirt cheap. Tough little folders, too. I have 2. I know nothing about Intel chips, but I have a lappy with a P3 1.13 Mobile that seems to do well, and I've heard here about the mobile chips doing well across the board. FWIW.

Bodega,

For the Socket A it depends. If your Mobo has the ability to overclock go the Mobile XP route. I like the 2500+. if it won't overclock, go with a Sempron.
