Currently have a ASUS U36SD-RBK5, looking to replace it

Budget is under $1000
Under 5lbs
13.3-15" screen
8GB RAM or less as long as it is upgradeable
mechanical HDD is fine
Good battery life
 
It depends on what you're looking for. Strictly speaking your criteria isn't exactly an ultrabook.

Some to consider -

Asus TP500
Asus TP300
Acer s7 ($900 on sale at the MS Store)
Acer v5-v573g (this is the newest refresh with a GTX 850m DDR3)
Acer v5/v7s (range of configuration)
Lenovo Yoga 2 13 (its been on sale for under $1k in the config you want)
 
I was in the same boat as you and got a yoga 2 pro and love it. I would look at the yoga 2 heavily if you cant swing the pro price..
