I might do a small upgrade on my second PC which current has a P3 733MHz...

I was wondering which tualatin celeron is the best overclocker and runs on this motherboard: ASUS P3V4X?

specs in sig

err. celerons...don't know about those two much...
I always used teh server taulatins..
all of those overclocked very well for me..but the 1.13 and 1.26's were the best, due to the low multiplier.
.002

well if your mobo supports the Tualatin, then the 1.3 Celeron is only $43 on Newegg. It overclocks very nicely but simply bumping up the FSB to 133.

I have a 1.4@1.73 on the very same mobo. You'll also need an adapter for the Tualatin and the beta BIOS from the Asus website.
The only thing I found with this setup was that with the extra height from the socket adapter + the SK-6 heatsink + the slot1 adapter = losing 1 RAM slot.

easier said than done, but for the most part all tualatins will do around 1.6ghz

Thanks for the tips...

losing 1 ram slot thats weird...design flaw or something?

I already have a slot 1 converter for the P3, will it work for the tualatin as well? or I have to get another one?

Shit I just checked from the ASUS website:

From FAQ:

Q: Does P3V4X motherboard support Pentium III or Celeron Processor with 0.13 micron technology?

A: No, it does not. Although Pentium III or Celeron CPU with 0.13 micron technology uses Tualatin core. However, P3V4X doesn't support Tualatin processor.

Q: What is the fastest CPU which P3V4X can support?

A: P3V4X can support up to PIII 1GHz and Celeron 800MHz, but you should update your BIOS to v1006.002 or later.

bah....just because it asus says its not supported doesnt mean it wont work. i had a soyo 6ba+4 with a celeron 1.3@1.6 on it, i used a modded asus slotket to get it to work. if you dont want to mod the slotket to get a tualatin to work on it goto www.powerleap.com and check out the PL-iP3 adapter, that will work with your board
