next system i am looking at getting is having a look at having a say dedicated gaming card for a 1080p144 monitor or higher and a lower end GPU for 2 other monitors that i have already

would you say that is overkill as the 2080 has 3 DP ports, would there be any benefit doing 2 video cards for the other monitors so the 2080 is purely running the gaming monitor

i am waiting until ryzen 3rd gen comes out i will be in between that and a 9900k possibly

gaming and streaming is the intent

That's what I do. It takes the rendering load for the accessory monitors off of the primary gpu as well as lowers VRAM usage on the primary card. Which is not going to be much at 1080p with only 2 accessory monitors.

I don't think I would really bother at 3x1080p.

Having said that, you can pick up some pretty cheap cards with 2gb of VRAM on them to run those 2 extra monitors, $50 or so is all you need.

I am running 3 x 4k monitors at work and it's is eating over 6gb of VRAM. I run 4 x 1080p and 1 x 4k at home, and it is slightly lower usage.
