i currently have powerdvd and windvd. are there any other higher quality dvd player programs out there?
 
Look into TheaterTek.

Anyways, the DVD software won't likely bring you any tangible sound quality improvement. I would suggest upgrading your speakers if you feel your sound quality to be inadequate.
 
im using the logitec x-530 with audigy 2 zs. it sounds great in games and music but its only so-so in DVD. whats wrong? im mostly using powerdvd
 
i'd bet it's a settings issue, too bad i'm not well versed enough to explain any of it.

What version's of powerdvd and windvd are you using?

don't forget most of the powerdvd versions floating around are 2channel stereo only, the 6channel version costs $, and i don't believe it comes bundled with hardware.

I'll have to second theatertek since it's recommended by all the htpc buffs, can't say for sure though.
