What it says.
Looking for a bit more punch out of my system/scratch/capture disks on my workstation and since I've got 2, and a robust backup solution already in place, I figure I might as well stripe 'em.
I'm basically looking for the best, either new or used, option for max performance from this setup. I don't forsee the need to move to more drives and I have absolutely no use for RAID-5.
I have PCI-X 100 & 133MHz at my disposal so interface isn't a concern either. Basically I want a wicked-fast workstation setup but don't need any server-level features.
I'd like to grab a Zero-channel RAID adapter for my X5DA8 but I hear it isn't great for the workstation....only for server-side tasks. Will I see a benefit from going with a dual channel with only 2 drives? What about, say, a dual channel U2W vs. a single U160?
Will a RAM Cache do anything for me in terms of workstation accessability or speed?
I currently run 2003 Web Server but I'm looking to move to a dual boot with SuSe soon..so, while its probably not an issue, it'd have to work both ways.
Thanks in advance for the recos.
