I did a search and really did not see something that addresses this size of a project....maybe you guys can point me in the right direction.
I will be opening an online site that carries approximately 2 MILLION products....these are from 2-3 of the largest suppliers in North America.
My issue is that I am not a programmer, however, I do have quite a bit of technical knowlege of smaller shopping cart solutions (my previous company I worked with sold a large number of items online). I spent 3 years working with them and using some of the non-enterprise solutions. We then graduated to an "all in one" solution that was ran by another online company.
I need something realistic that can scale with this amount of products. It needs to be fully featured and fairly bulletproof. I will be hiring out the implementation and any custom programming. I had looked at volusion.com for their solution and they really had 90% of the features I need (ie I will be using more than one vendor to drop ship and need the software to break out a full order into mini orders to be automatically sent to these companies for fulfillment). Unfortunately, volusion is not offiering their stand alone software any more (where I would get access to the code and be able to set the systme up on my own servers (where I can have custom jobs to import the catalogues, change files, and send orders over automatically).
Any help with some enterprise solutions would be much appreciated. You guys have alot more industry experience and, hopfully, can point me in the right direction.
