Currently I have a Gigabyte Ga-7n400 pro2, and I've been wanting to upgrade it, so I can oc my processor. So I was wondering what the best mobo is for oc'ing on a socket a.


Athlon XP 3200+
512mb ddr3200 ram
9800pro

DFI Lan Party Ultra B

Best motherboard I've ever used to date. Great performance, tons of features and awesome quality.
 
I'm in the same situation as you. I've been looking at old posts in the forums and have found a lot of recommendations for the Abit nf7-s rev. 2. I've found them at newegg for around $85 or on ebay for $65. I'll probably get one off ebay this week.
I've been able to oc on my 7n400 pro but the board's been somewhat of a disappointment. Things are running fine now but I've had some issues with it. I'd like to see how high my 2400xp-m goes on a more stable board.
 
The main problem that I know of with the nf7-s is that the active cooling on the Northbridge uses a sleeve bearing fan that almost always dies within a few months of purchasing the board. If you do choose to go with this board I would buy a passive nb cooler right away and replace it before using the board (otherwise you should at least keep a close eye on the Northbridge fan and wait for it to break down).

My experience with the A7N8X-E deluxe has been very good. I have had no difficulties with the board whatsoever and would recomend it to anyone.
 
I purchsed the DFI nf2 Ultra-B board with a XP3200, and had nothing but trouble with it. After that I swore never to purchase DFI again. And since then ive owned the asus one mention aboved and the Gigabye pro400, both have worked really well.

You can't find one anymore, but TigerDirect has the DFI Lanparty Nf2 for $100.
