Silent pc review said that the Thermalright Ultra-120 extreme was the best, followed by the non extreme version.

Frosty tech had the regular ultra 120 at #2, the extreme at #4. (Iceage was 3, HDT-S1283 number one)

There are a lot of heatsinks out there, Scythe, Zalman, zerotherm, thermalright, etc....

Pretty much, yea.
However OP you need to determine if it is the best for you and your specific configuration, is noise an issue, mounting ?, will it fit on your motherboard, is your case big enough. If the Thermalright fits, wear it.

Heheh, I like the comment "if it fits, wear it". Holds very true for the 120. It is a pretty monstrous piece of heatsink. Mine fits no problem in a P180b case on an Asus Maximus Formula. It almost clears the inside of the case though :O

My only wish would be for the heatsink to be ALL copper. I know it would probably weigh > 1KG, but damn would that be sweet.

I was a little scared of it's size too :p

Those sites have reviews of fans too, sure I can find a good 120mm fan.

I don't need it right now because I feel like I maxed out my chip (stepping is the problem, I got the L2 one, and on the Core 2 OC list, I'm the only other person with a L2 stepping E6400). I had to pump the voltage all the way to 1.4850 or something to get it a few minutes orthos stable, but the temps with my Zalman 9500 shot to 62oC+ and kept going up. 57oC is the max my chip is under 100% load when it's at 3.2GHz, it's acceptable.

But by the time I buy that heatsink, I'm sure I would've got a new chip. Maybe a Q8xxx chip by Q3/Q4... could wait for nehalem. Or can get a QX9650/QX9770 if I can get one for cheaper late this year.

But the price of it probably would not be very sweet. ;)

Yeah it would be pretty expensive ;).

To put into perspective on how awesome this heatsink is, I'll use my OC as an illustration.

I have a Q6600 G0 stepping. Asus Maximus Motherboard, Antec P180b case (2 120mm intake fans, 2 120mm outtake fans), and some 120mm fan on the heatsink itself (I can't remember what I put on it at the moment :p ).

My OC is 4.1 GHz, 1.4625vCore with nominal bumps in voltage across the board for NB/SB/PLL/Mem, etc.

She idles around 44C, and after several hours @ load we're looking at around 64-66C on the cores. In fact even upping the voltage to above 1.5 doesn't increase the temperature that much.

You can really feel a ton of heat coming out the back too. This heatsink is that awesome ;)

If it was all copper it would weight a SHIT ton (like 3-4lbs) and wouldnt provide much better cooling..... and would cost around $75-100

I have the regular ninja and i have to sya i really want the copper one, I just do, so shiiiiiinnnnnny !!!

I would go for the ultra 120 extreme.

After reading several reviews, I went with the TRUE 120 and 2 fans for push/pull. Didn't notice much of a difference from adding a second fan.

I'm very happy with my Tuniq Tower, i think its much cheaper then the TRUE and is only ~3-4* higher then the TRUE

I like the zalman 9700, its not great lol but hey
I would be afraid to put something as large as the extreme on my mobo :-s
