What is the highest tiered socket 1155 i7 intel cpu? Currently have a 3770k. Any cpu worth upgrading to without replacing mobo
 
3770k is the best, if you need more start clocking it.. if you want to get crazy delid - see my sig for common results.

No. There is none. Possibly in 2018 the Intel mainstream platform may have a 6 core /12 threads. Although that relies on a massive improvement from AMD and probably also Intel's enthusiast platform making 8core / 16 threads the bottom of the line..
 
Indeed 3930k is socket 2011. Best for 1155/1150 is 4 core 8 thread.. which you already have.
 
3770k. Which you own. Right now there is no need to upgrade. If anything PC's are to the point where a CPU is rarely the bottleneck anymore (unless you run AMD), and your GPU will be the bottleneck.

If you want any kind of upgrade, buy another 970 GTX.
