Best site to set up a blog on?

Wasn't sure which forum to use, but this seemed like the best bet.

I was just curious, if I wanted to start up a blog, what is the best site for that? A lot of people seem to use blogspot, but I do fancy the idea of having it be a custom url and not having the blogspot forced in there.

The common blog engines are capable of using your own domain name for a blog hosted on their domain. I know WordPress and BlogSpot both are capable of this.

Your own. I would recommend DreamHost's regular shared hosting. If you get big enough, you could consider DreamHost's VPS.
