Best SetUp for Performance

Which will i go with for a better performance:
raid 0
or
34gb raptor for OS and other apps i need to run fast and install a 200gb slave for all other software-dump drive.

Please need advice

Skip the 36GB raptor and the raid 0. Both of those are simply not efficient. Use one WD2500KS for your boot drive, games, programs, etc, and add whatever you need size-wise for a torrent-dumping drive.

i have an a8n32 board, can i buy the hdd you recommended and have it on serial ata, then have my old hdd on the ide drive and pick the new hdd as boot device? thanks a lot for the help.

Yes, that will work fine. You'd have to install Windows to the serial ata drive; to do this, you'll need to put in the floppy that came with the motherboard when it says to press F6.

I'd say:

Raptor 150 for boot
500gb WD for storage

How fast do you really need your storage drive to be? What your looking for is good performance is loading apps and games and such, and the Raptor will give you that, so I dont think RAID would be fesable for running a storage drive. Just wasted money. Look around the net for reviews of the Raptor 150 and 74gb, and see how much faster they are compared to normal 7200rpm drives, and see if the increase is worth the extra money for you.

You wont be disapointed either way running mage's setup, or mine but look to see if the raptor is woth it to you then make your decision.

I would say that his question is much the same as the OP's in that he also has a 36GB raptor and wondering about the best setup for performance. Its only thread hijacking when the topics being discussed differ completely. Its normally a good idea to start your own thread but if your situation is much the same as someone else who already posted a thread then not a lot of point in cluttering the board with more threads. Its always a good idea to use the Search feature and try to find threads asking your same question and reply in it. This keeps the information together for others to read on specific topics.

Agreed. I think the OP was considering buying a 36 gb raptor (which is not a good idea, BTW) as compared to already owning one, though.

In any case, my suggestion to g1xx3r is: use the 74 GB raptor as OS/programs/games space. Use the 36 as torrent download location, scratch space, and pagefile disk. Get a large disk of your choice for data storage.
