best setup for my room

well heres a layout of my room at home and it'll be similar to my apartment next school year. anyways, what is the best way for me to setup my sound system. the two circles on the sides represent my r30's and the circle on the desk is the dayton sub under my desk (didn't know where to put it). anyways, i have athena bookshelves on backorder and i'm planning on making those my rear when they come in and when i come up with enough money for a surround sound receiver. so yea, i know subs sound best in corners, but as you can see my options are limited. however, i am a college student so i'm open to any ideas, crazy as they may sound.

Put them on your bookshelf seems a reasonable idea :D

Can you not get a pair of wall brackets, they arent particualrly expensive, or are you limited to no screws in the walls?
 
well the r30s are floorstanding and i'm trying to stay away from holes in the wall. plus i'd like to find a way to put the sub in a better place.
 
Ease of placement in cramped quarters is one reason that a pair of monitor-sized speakers is sometime better than a pair of floorstanders. Be that as it may, the R30's were a decent deal.

You should get a radioshack sound meter for calibrating your subwoofer and all your speakers. Here's a pretty good guide on getting your subwoofer integrated properly.

I'm not sure that getting surrounds in such cramped quaters is all that important. I'd place priority on getting a decent receiver.

Your ideal placement would be to have the speakers about 1' away from the wall, toed in to a point about 3' away that is the sweet spot position.

Where is the door in that picture?
 
Tilted slightly inward so that the speakers face the listener, like the sides of a triangle rather than a square.

Yeah I was thinking the same thing.



Well the bed should be on the right wall in that picture. That way you can move everything from the upper wall, to the left wall, so your work area and entertainment area is all on the left wall, and you speakers won't be blocking the shelves as they are now.
