I'm trying to lock down my router but I need some help with the settings. Do I need DMZ enabled because it is on by default? Also curious what ports I should have blocked? 135 is blocked by default but I would like to block whatever is a possible threat. Thanks in advance for any replies.

Also I'd like to access the router/home network (mainly remote desktop.) from my work if possible? Can anyone please throw me some settings to set that up. Thx again.
 
By default, just about all home broadband routers do not have any ports open/forwarded. Nor, by default, is any computer put in the DMZ.

You, as the end user, have to go open/forward ports to a LAN IP, and/or commit suicide for your computer by putting one in the DMZ.
