Anyone know what the best socket 775 cooler that does not require a backplane is? I have a Tuniq Tower already and I know it's damn good, but I don't want to have the possibility of warping my new IP35 Pro due to the weight of the HSF, regardless of the likelihood. Also, I made the decision and do not want to remove my motherboard now after getting all of my wiring settled in my new case.

I know the Intel stock cooler is damn good for free, but is there anything that's worth spending money on that has a noticeable difference (~3C or better load) and doesn't require a backplane? Or is the difference small enough to warrant simply keeping the stock cooler? My max price is $40.

My scythe ninja rev. b is huge, but doesn't require a backplate. But you most likely will have to take the motherboard out to be able to push the pins in. The ARCTIC COOLING Freezer 7 Pro works a lot better then the stock intel hsf, and is very affordable, you also would not need to remove the mobo to install this one. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835186134 $21.99

I'll be using the Ninja on mine, but I'm using the thermalright bolt through kit just to be safe. Apparently the pushpins just aren't enough to hold the weight effectively.

http://www.svc.com/u8-120.html is dirt cheap, and is a rebranded Noctua.

Honestly? Take the hour or two to do things right. Get the ninja and the bolt kit (SVC has it for $5), wiring can be easily redone, and you only have to replace the board once.

Buyer beware with Freezer 7s and NewEgg. They shipped me TWICE a damaged Freezer Pro, they're not getting my business anymore when it comes to heatsinks or fans.
