Best rechargeable batteries

So I bought a digital camera about 6 months ago, I've used it quite often and I'm loving the digital image deal. It's nothing amazing, just a fujifilm finepix 2.0 megapixel camera, but I only wanted it to see what digtal photography has to offer and for casual pictures and stuff. So the camera works great for all my needsbut be it the lcd, the motors on the optical zoom, or some other factor something is killing batteries like nobody's business. When I turn off the lcd when using it the batteries last way longer, obviously, but I'd still prefer to be able to use it longer without losing some batteries.

So basically, I'm just asking if anyone knows of some high quality but not obscenely expensive rechargeable battery set that I can get buy to use in the camera. It takes 2 AA batteries a shot to run. So if anyone has any experience with these, your input would be appreciated :D

Well, as long as you've got 2 or 3 sets of them (which you'll want), it won't matter a whole lot what brand you have. They're rechargable :)

Anyway, I use Duracells in my MX700. They hold a charge far better than the cheapo included AAs.

And I'm pretty sure that buying another $200 camera is not the best way to get cheap battery power for a $200 camera...

I don't know what is your price point for "obscenely expensive," but Energizer rechargeable batteries are pretty good. They work as well as the Nikon rechargeable batteries I used to use. There are also MONSTER rechargeable batteries but them plus the charger is more expensive than the energizer ones. I think at Wal Mart, a set of 4 Energizer batteries + charger is $25.

AA are the cheapest way to get a camera, i have 2 sets of Maha 2100 NiMH batteries with a A80, they last about 1100 to 1500 pictures with the screen on.
Its more about getting a good charger that don't kill your batteries.

theres a site somewhere which tested all of them, cant find it now :(

Hmm, the $25 dollar Energizers seem like a good bet for me, but if you ever stumble onto the site that reviewed them all throw it up :D

And prometheum, I don't want another camera as, as I stated, this one is just for me to get used to the whole digital photography thing and use it for casual stuff, it'd be a major money waste for me to buy a new digital camera just for the batt's

Thanks for the opinions everyone

Okay, if you THE BEST batteries and charger out there. It is no doubt going to Maha charger and Powerex batteries (Also a company from Maha). They are a bit more expensive than the regular duracell batteries and charger you buy in stores, and the difference between them is about ~30 pictures or so every life cycle of the battery (Every recharge). Make sure you get the 2300mAh rated batteries (A rule of thumb is the higher the mAh, the longer your battery will last) The highest rated so far is the 2300mAh, most batteries you buy in walmart will be rated at around 2100mAh. I suggest you buy two sets, therefore you will always have a set ready. (I have three sets, im NEVER going to miss the perfect shot :D)

Go here if you want to purchase them:

Now you also wanted some source to back up my saying so here it is:

Dont listen to the prometheum, rechargeable AA batteries has more advantage over lithium. For examples you will never run of juice for your camera because you can always buy regular alkaline batteries from stores. You cannnot do that with lithium ion. Your AA batteries will also last A LOT longer than lihium ion, about 2-3 times as much. AA is cheap! You can buy 2 or 3 sets for under 20 bucks, while an litium ion battery can cost as much as a hundred bucks. THe only advantage that the lihitum ion has is the size and weight. Since it have a much higher voltage than alkaline (1.5v) and NiMh (1.2c), you will need more AA than you do with lithium.

Also rechargeable batteries last like 4x longer than alkaline because alkaline is VERY GOOD with low drain deviced such as flashlights and remote controls, but on high drain devices like digital cameras, mp3 players, alkalines really sucks.

PS: DO NOT buy Nickel Cadium you want Nickel Metal hydride (NiMh) This shouldnt be a problem because they dont sell Nickel Cadium anymore.

All of a sudden I want to try normal batteries in the 15 minute charger and see how fast they implode....

good suggestion about having a backup set always charged tho
