im buying the Arctic cooler VGA silencer and i would like to get a ramsink so i can oclock my 9700pro to 9800pro speed or higher if possible. so what's the best ramsink out there..? any info would be great. thnx.

I've got a 9800Pro and I use these Tweakmonster Ramsinks specifically made for square memory chips:

They say thermal tape application, but we all know that if you want the best results, it's all about the artic silver adhesive. The only problem is that once the sinks are mounted, there's little chance of ever getting them off again.

They really helped stabilize the performance of my card - I would get slowdowns once the card had been pumping out a graphically intensive game for hours on end. It's been smooth sailing ever since I installed these.

Between the two packs of sinks that you'll need and the adhesive compound, it's about a $30 mod. There are cheaper sets out there, but these pure copper sinks are worth it in my opinion.

Tweakmonsters are a piece of crap.

Copper doesnt do anything on ram chips. The difference between copper and aluminum is that copper conducts 3x as fast.

but.....when your using it on ram chips, the ceramic casing limits you anyway (in laymans terms: takes away copper's advantage), which is why the only difference between copper and aluminum sinks (on ram) is weight.

i like ramsinks, but to fully utilize them, have good airflow through your case OR have some fan pointing in their general direction. just thought i'd add that little bit.

Yeah. I have some spare small fans. So I was thinking about mounting my sliced Intel P4 Heatsink in strips (4 total, across 2 chips per strip). Each would get one fan shooting through the slits. The top would be capped to make it like a wind-tunnel effect.

btw, they are the edge pieces off an old cooler master heatsink, i have a side panel fan that moves alot of air thru them, didnt get me any mem OCing, but the max core OC went up 6Mhz with ramsinks.
