I'd like to get some high quality, reliable RAM for my Core 2 Duo setup, and budget isn't much of a concern (I'm willing to spend up to $300) although I'd of course like to save money rather than pay extra for what I don't need.

I was looking at the Firestix which get great reviews here, but they'll cost me $300 from Microcenter for 2gb and Newegg with the cheaper price is always sold out.

Should I still go for the Firestix even when I won't be OCing? Or, are there cheaper sticks that won't OC as well but are still good?

Thanks in advance!

Dude, just get any PC6400 RAM if you are not overclocking. Core 2 Duos aren't sensitive to timings so any timings will do. Most RAM will do 4-4-4-10 anyways.

Better yet, get yourself PC5300 RAM and save even more money.

Most RAM are stable as long as you stick to brand names.
