Who makes the absolute best water pump for a watercooled solution? Money is no object.

IceWeasel- How many volts is it taking you to get 2.5ghz? I got my 3200 90nm at 2.4ghz at 1.5v on air.

a lot of people like the Eheim 1250...much more head and more GPH...i ordered mine yesterday and it should be coming by wednesday (hopefully)...

it is supposed to be uber reliable, and very quiet...same as the Hydor L30, which is supposed to be as quiet and as powerful, just not as reliable...

if u want a solution to hook up to your PSU, then the DD 12v is obviously the best choice.

I had an L30 and just ordered a 1250 to replace it. The L30 was quiet but sometimes it rattles and got very annoying.

Agreed with the poster directly above me, there is a bit of a rattle. I dont believe the L30 is less reliable, it just isn't as popular and hasn't had TIME to prove itself. Lots of 1250's have been running years and years on end. Another thing is that the 1250 has better EMI shielding, IMO. The L30 is much smaller, though.

The best pump for watercooling is probably the Iwaki 20RZT. Procooling.com will give you the lowdown. There are also a few BlueLine pumps that are killer out there. What you need to know though, is those pumps will probably give you some grief, they're all going to require adapters because they're like 3/4" NPT OD (i.e. you'd need a 3/4" NPT ID adapter -> .5"

I'd say some of the better pumps out there for mainstream watercooling are the 12v pumps from DD, the 1250 is always a good choice, but as far as pure performance, it can be beaten, overall it's a great pump though (reliability and silence).

can you hear your pump? i have to ask because i have an eheim 1048 and thought i may be able to use more flow but don't want a pump that i can hear.

Yes, you can hear the pump. It's rather difficult to find a high-flow rate pump that is silent...

After having a hydor L30 for only 4 months, I think they're crap. I guess you get what you pay for.

The impeller shaft is very poorly machined, which is one of the reasons some of them rattle from day one. If you happen to get a good impeller shaft, it'll still gum up over time, lowering performance, requiring regular cleaning/polishing to keep it going. Do you really want to have to drain your system every 3-4 months?

I thought mine was dead till I polished the shaft with a rotary tool, then ran some stranded wire through the impeller itself, to clean out any buildup inside.

It isn't like I'm using a bunch of gunk in my system either, just distilled water and a bit of anti-algae stuff.

Oh well, since I had to tear it down anyways, I sleeved the powersupply cables, lined the case with anti-sound foam and bumped the fans back up to 12volt. I noticed also that the pump is much quieter if you don't use the mounting gear and just sit it on top of the foam. Is ok long as I don't plan on moving the pc to aggressively.

The pump, even after the work, isn't as good as day one. When I first set the system up, the pump was strong enough to put a vortex in the reservoir, now it can't. :(

I think I'll get a real pump next time, leave it outside of the case and put on some quick disconnects. That'll give me more power and easier maintenance.
