I have a project that I need to scan several hundred newspaper clippings, pictures, and sketches. I need a program that would let me organize, tag & then search through everything. Then when I'm done I need to put everything online. Does anyone have suggestions of what programs I should look into?

Picassa can do what you're looking for. You can even upload them (to Picasa web albums, and other sources, I believe).
 
There was a nearly identical thread to this one in a different forum a long time ago - i think the number one choice was picassa

i dont do anything like this though so i have no experience.
