Ive been hearing that the Athlon 64's are the ones to get? I also just watched on tech tv that the Intel Ones are doing quite poor, expecially with the new prescott. Is having the 64bit operation a good upgrade or should i wait for a while. I am in need of a upgrade as you can see.:( \
thanks alot in advance

The Athlon64 is very good. The 64-bit extensions aren't really useful at this point in time, considering that there's no 64-bit software out yet, so you'll just be using it in 32-bit mode.

It all depends on how desparately you want a major upgrade. Since you'd probably have to buy a new mobo and such anyways, I'd go with A64.

Just me personally, but I like the P4 2.4c since you can stock cool and volt it and still get 3.2+GHz out of it. But thats just me cuz I like Performance:Cost

I see there's an alpha or beta version of WinXP64 for AMD64 out.

Dont forget UT2k3 has a 64 bit version in the works, and UT2k4 will probably have a 64 bit version. Some games will take advantage of 64 bit.
