Best Place?

Go to Best Buy, Circuit City, Fry's, any electronic department store.

After you find one you like, look around for the best price.

Amazon; just make sure you are buying it from them. Some times they pipe their sales through a third party, where the return policy is not as good. Amazon has good price, selection, and return policy. The big box stores like BB and CC have high prices, but good selection and return policy. You have to pay tax at a big box store as well.

Best of luck

Do you guys bother getting the extended warranty from places like BB or Sears. I never buy warranties but maybe LCDs are prone to problems?

Best Buy, Circuit City or Sears. For Circuit City, check the online prices for LCD/TV. They have good deals online and you can pickup in store. Also, they price match other places and will give an additional 10% off the difference. Sears also price matches and give additional 10% off the difference. As far as the warranty, depends, some places charge alot on the 3-5 year plans. I am not sure if Best Buy does the 10% additional thing though.

I wonder if you could get a department store like BB or Circuit City to price match an online retailer's price, like from Newegg or Amazon.

I would try going to a local retailer (like Best Buy and Circuit City). I like to see if the TV looks nice or not in person. You do not want to rely on an online review.
