Best performance/value @ $300 price point?

GTX560ti 448 for under $250, GTX570 for under $300, GTX480 for under $220, XFX Black Edition HD7850 for $275.00.

All of the above cards are good cards for around $300 or less.
 
300 is a little odd right now. You can find deals for a gtx 570, 560 ti-448, etc for cheaper, and the gtx 580 is more. On the AMD side you have 7850 thats less than the 300, the 7870 thats more.... So not much right at the 300 mark.

Bang for the buck, I would got with the gtx 570, 560 ti-448, or the 7850 if you really want to go with AMD. At this point it appears that nVidia is the price point leader. :eek:
 
With a little patience, looking around and luck you can find a GTX 580 1.5GB used with warranty. About two weeks ago SabrePC had PNY GTX 580 1.5GB for $320

This. This is a weird time in GPUs nothing around $300-$400 is worth it.

If you can get a newegg business account I'd get MSI twin 448 for $209 AR and take GF to steak and movie with $100 left over.

Sell your current card now, use something cheapo and wait a month or two.

I've already dumped my 6950 2gb, which I'm regretting a little right this second but things are screwed up in the 300-350 segment. If we can get a 680 under $400 in the next two or three months I'll jump back in. Otherwise... it might be a while. This is a time for patience.
 
check craigslist. you can find gtx480 for close to $200. However if you can't wait try to look for gtx580 deals
 
You can get (if you have a crossfire motherboard) 2 6770's for $200 (new) or less, they beat a 570 or 6950 in most games. They performed better in Battlefield 3 than my unlocked 6950 all day, I was quite surprised.
 
I've seen GTX580's in the FS forum for $300. I'd say that's the most powerful. Best heat/power ratio is the 7850 though.

You can substitute "weird" with shitty.

As many people have noted in various threads, the price/performance ratio has went down with the new gen cards. Maybe excusable with the high-end choices but not on the lower ones.

And if you follow hot deals or any similar type of forum almost the entire last year has sucked for videocard deals. After the final wave of GTX 460 deals only the Radeon 6850/70 were coming up with regularity and they didn't get close to the same bang for the buck.
 
I understand the gripes from those of you who will only purchase GPUs brand new (and for most "gamers", you probably should, especially when overclocking and warranties are considered). However, for those of you looking for best bang for buck, you need to jump on the deals from people who are upgrading to 680s. It's been a long time since I've seen such tremendous drops on the used market, and there are a lot of people out there just trying to get whatever they can in order to upgrade immediately.

Pay attention to the FS/FT forum, mid-range buyers. This is your time to buy top tier at mid-tier pricing. Uh, just don't expect to buy a 680... (myself, I bought a like-new, under warranty 7970 for $440 shipped and am A-OKAY WITH THAT!!!)
