Hey all..

I've gotten a little tired of FPS's and wanted to play a fun platformer for a change.. I tried the psychonauts demo recently, and it was fun but didn't hold my attention that much. Can anyone else recommend an excellent platform type game for pc?

thanks

If you can still find it, try Duke Nukem: Manhattan Project, it's old, but a blast :)

The Prince of Persia games are pretty cool. You might wanna try MDK and MDK 2, as well. Oldies, but goodies.

heh yea i played the original POP back in the late 80's and POP:SOT a few years back.. wonder if there's anything newer that's worth checking out?

POP 2 came out last year, I believe. "The Warrior Within" I think was the name...

Prince of Persia: Sands of Time was fantastic, but I never beat it. They ramped up the difficulty hardcore towards the end of the game, making you fight literally scores upon scores of guys at one point.

Grab a NeoGeo emulator, play some Metal Slug III.

Sexy goodness . . . I play it from work :).

heh I used to love that game reloaded for ps1.. I should pick that up too :) thx

Not quite a platformer, but 'The Bard's Tale' is fantastic. I'm about 20 hrs into the game and have loved every second of it. Plus, it comes with all of the original Bard's Tale games. :)

Psychonauts is the best one. Play the demo agian. And enjoy it this time.

If you're feeling retro, and you can make them run, all the Commander Keen games are great fun. :)

Yeah, seriously give Psychonauts another try. It's cooler than the other side of the pillow.

After going out and buying it upon finding that it was made by the same guy who did Grim Fandango, I'm also going to have to say Psychonauts. It's a fun traditional platformer, but it has style out the wazoo.

Another vote for POP:Sands of Time, and Psychonauts. Sands of Time has it's faults, but it has personality. Best 3D action platformer out there. Warrior Within... uh... you can try it, if you're looking for more action than platforming/puzzle solving. The atmosphere and script are generic like nothing else, though. Lost all the magic of the first. Aside from that, they went insane with the combat. There's very little opportunity to take a break and check out the neato environments. Otherwise, I actually found the combat LESS interesting than in Sands of Time. Less formulaic, but fuck that. I just wanted a platformer.

Anyway, enough bitching. Beyond Good and Evil also gets another vote.
