to find the optimal use coolbits, then use 3dmark06 to see if there is artifacting, after you find the best clock frequency has been found for core/mem, then bios flash them into the bios with nibitor so you don't have to install any oc program and don't have any fuss when installing newer drivers :-D
You are recommending a bios flash to someone who is asking what is the best software to overclock?
If you look at the OP's sig you will see they already know how to o/c and flashed his/her mobo, although i'd be assuming, i'd never recommend doing it without reading up on it, which if they didn't i could provide links from the SLI thread that shows good step by step direction on how to do it.
The OP most likely is just looking for what others recommend and if something new is out that might be better than the rest. For me personally i didn't like ATI tool, thats why i recommend coolbits and 3dmark, you can run the demo or test and it will show pretty well on the 2nd test and the one with the sea serpent rather well. If anything else if it happens in a game then you can still downclock from there.
That is what I am doing .Just wanted to see if there is anything new out there. I was using ntune. Yes I do know how to overclock.
Alright I did some 3DMark06 testing
#1-cards set at 470/1100 factory setting I got a score of 7276
#2-cards set at 470/1200 I got a score of 7390
#3-cards set at 480/1200 I got a score of 7521
I will do some more testing over the weekend. I am using RivaTuner to overclock the cards.Try coolbit but it lockup the computer when I set the cards to 470/1200.
I do not know did not look to see where it was. With coolbits are you setting it to 1A?
I do not know did not look to see where it was.
When you enable Coolbits and set it to 1A, you will have the ability to change the clocks on BOTH cards to the SAME new values. The clock settings that you select in the control panel using coolbits will be applied to BOTH cards. Since the best SLI performance is achieved when the clock speeds are identical, NVIDIA provides settings in the control panel that force uniform clocks. However, SLI WILL work if the clocks are different (if you purchased cards with different clocks).
Coolbits won't work in my 8800GTS control panel, it keeps linking me to the performance section...
To check the stabiliy of the oc, you should use the artifact tester in ATITools.
the current PowerStrip doesn´t support the 8800 series!
The latest build release of Powerstrip addresses the 8800 series. My 8800GTS is correctly identified and supported. More then I can say for ATI tool, crashes whenever I try and launch it, even after uninstalling/reinstalling. File remnant or something from the upgrade, who knows.
