Im heavily modding a microATX compaq case, going to be getting a mobile 2400+, watercooling, the works, but the board i planned on getting: http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=13-138-234&depa=1
does not have motherboard mouning holes, now i know i can get a socket tab hold down for the DD TDX, but im not sure if that works as good, and the newer revisions of the mobo do not support muiltiplier or voltage adjustments, which ill need for overclocking.
so should i just go with that board or is there something better, preferably with socket mounting holes.

I would recommend this for an nVidia chipset, or this for Via. Nothing to back it up, but Abit and ASUS are usually really good at OCing, as well as stability to boot.
 
I have read several accounts that the Asus offering would not be what you're looking for; It has no overclocking options, it's not even the same bios manufacturer (it uses AMIBios)

No clue about the VA-10.

I do remember that (at least a couple of revisions back) Biostar had an NForce2 MATX board that allowed for overclocking, even had vcore adjustments. That was the M7NCG series...I've no idea if the NForce2 400 addition to the board affects it's ability to overclock/adjust vcore at all.

well i built a system for my friend with the biostar board, ill go to his house and checkout the bios.
damn i wish that asus board overclocked, because thats exactly what i wanted...
 
The board revision that I'm aware of on the Biostar board that allowed vcore adjustment was 1.4...I'm not sure if following revisions included that option or not.
 
One possibility you might look at as an alternative is the Shuttle MN31N; It does have mounting holes on the board--I've stuck an Alpha 8045 (whatever the socket a version is) onto it, it gets close to one capacitor, but fits with no problem.

Granted, you won't be able to adjust multi's/vcore with it, but it's a fine board otherwise.
 
I just built my father an internet box with a Abit VA-10 and a 2600+ Barton. OC's real well.
 
i wish abit made a miro-atx nforce 2 board... then i would be in business...
 
Im pretty sure not many have voltage and FSB adjustments... I know the early Epox Nforce2 Matx board was great...and the newer one (currently at newegg) is probely one of the better ones... The ASUS dost not overlcock..

im still looksinfor somewhere i can find the first Epox revision for sale....

remember, if you can adjust the multiplyer in BIOS you can allway mod the CPU with the Pin mods to default it to a diffrent multiplyer...same gose for votlage...as long as the board cant handel higher cores
 
that chaintech board looks mad nice, since its not an IGP and has socket mounting holes, but the reviews say the o/c options are bad.
the epox looks good but it has no mounting holes.

should be in stock by tomarrow.
it has socket mounting holes and has lots of o/c options, but the only problem is that its not an nforce 2, but im sure the KM-400 isint too much slower, and it even supports agp 8X and bartons.
hopefully it will let me adjust the mobile 2400+'s multi and voltage.

DFI dosnt make a MATX board.....at leat i dont think they do...

And even so, DFI boards arnt all that. Sure they liek FSB, but there votlage problems make alot of there infinty ultra boards extremly bad
