best overclocking program for 6800?

Haven't had an Nvidia card for awhile... what is the best utility? Wasn't there a tool on here that would auto detect your maximum overclock without artifacts?
 
yeah, there should be, i'm pretty sure if you right click on desktop, go into properties, settings, advanced, there should be an option in there...if there's not, does anyone know if you can use ATi Tool on an Nvidia? Would i just not let you do anything, or would it not work at all? If it does work, then by all means, its an amazing program...i don't have an Nvidia, i have an ATi, but you could also try RivaTuner, but there is a built it "Auto Detect" i don't know exactly where, but i know its in there somewhere.

ok, rivatuner shows the correct speeds but wont let me change them, the controls are faded out, and powerstrip shows 0 mhz on core and memory. I don't see a way to overclock in the standard controls. Can somoene please tell me how to overclock this card?
 
Yup, google "coolbits", guru3d has it I know. Just download the registry hack, run it, and you'll have an OC tab within the nvidia drivers.

There is a "detect optimal frequencies" that only sorta works, but its better than nothin. Only problem with coolbits is you have to test the OC before you apply it, and there are times where you can get a very stable OC that coolbits detects as unstable.

You could also search for powerstrip..it'll let you change the frequencies w/o testing them.
 
I hate powerstrip, it really got on my nerves, but that's just me...yeah, listen to those tips ^^^^^ they are good ones :p.
 
Using X-Setup Pro here...works wonderfully. My 6800 GT is at 400/1.1 ( ran higher but lost fps, this is the sweet spot for me) Gained a few hundred in 3DMark01 and I use 4XAA and 4X AF in Far Cry and Doom 3 (highest settings Doom and "Very high" in Far Cry w/o any flaws.
 
since i don't have a GT, i can't really tell you from experience...listen to these people, they are the ones that have had the experience...

The easiest is probably Coolbits 2. It's a Registry file that you download and double-click on. That's it for installation.

If you want more advanced features, the latest version of Rivatuner is excellent. Using it, you can set your 2D and 3D mode clocks to be equal, show a time vs temp graph of the core and ambient, and force fast write/side-band addressing on or off.

Other good programs for general tweaking includes aTuner, NVHardpage, and Powerstrip.
